COVID-19 has put a damper on anime conventions for this year, but there’s good news: Funimation is setting out to replicate the con experience at home.
Funimation Con 2020, the first convention for the anime distributor, will take place online July 3-4. That’s when Anime Expo was set to happen before it was canceled April 17.
Funi describes the con as “a two-day stream of cosplay meetups, industry panels, Q&A sessions and more.”
The official hashtag for the con is #funimationcon.
The con may have been partially inspired by the fan-organized Anime Lockdown con, which ran from May1-3 and featured guests from distributors like Discotek and voice actors.
This is happening. Our first convention, and it’s all virtual! We hope you can make it! https://t.co/HZYcugShod #funimationcon2020 pic.twitter.com/9MRpEIcoAL
