When it comes to a series like Higurashi, it’s best to go in as blind as possible. That’s one of the key reasons the production committee behind the ongoing Higurashi anime—which continues in the form of Higurashi: When They Cry – SOTSU—isn’t keen on letting folks freely spoil some of the series’ key moments.
To stop leaked information from being spread, the committee is willing to take legal action against those who would spoil the Higurashi anime online. The folks behind the series are currently working with media sites to ban the accounts of anyone who has been releasing spoilers prior to the airing of episodes in Japan.
According to the committee, they’re doing this “for the fans who look forward to the story.” With that in mind, they apologized to fans who have been affected by spoilers, and confirmed these leaks in no way came from them.

Funimation has been simulcasting the ongoing Higurashi anime. Here’s how they describe it:
New kid Keiichi Maebara is settling into his new home of peaceful Hinamizawa village. Making quick friends with the girls from his school, he’s arrived in time for the big festival of the year. But something about this isolated town seems “off,” and his feelings of dread continue to grow. With a gnawing fear that he’s right, what dark secrets could this small community be hiding?
