Promare Gets the Sanrio Treatment for First Anniversary

Promare Gets the Sanrio Treatment for First AnniversaryWe’re a few days late to this, but it’s just too cute not to post: Lio and Galo from Promare have been Sanrio-ified. It’s the Hello Kitty maker’s way of wishing Promare a happy birthday—the film turned one recently.

In the image, Lio and Galo celebrate with the Sanrio characters known as the Little Twin Stars and a giant ol’ cake. The image was overseen by Promare character designer Shigeto Koyama, who recently posted his own anniversary image.

Fans can get their hands on these adorable Sanrio/Promare images soon. They’ll soon be plastered across merchandise that goes on sale July 23 at The Character Shop in Ikebukuro’s P’PARCO department store. The Promare sale event will last from July 23 to August 12.

Promare is, of course, the hit film from studio Trigger, director Hiroyuki Imaishi and writer Kazuki Nagashima. Here’s how GKIDS describes it:

Thirty years has passed since the appearance of the Burnish, a race of flame-wielding mutant beings, who destroyed half of the world with fire. When a new group of aggressive mutants calling themselves Mad Burnish appears, the epic battle between Galo Thymos, a new member of the anti-Burnish rescue team Burning Rescue, and Lio Fotia, the leader of Mad Burnish begins.
