Thanks to another successful hometown tax project—this time in Hokkaido’s Kushiro City—the budget has officially been secured for a new Dropkick on My Devil! bonus episode. Kushiro City reached its goal of 30 million yen ($284,000), and tiered extras have been offered as incentives to those who donated certain amounts during the campaign.
The final budget will be decided following Kushiro City Council votes, and discs including the extra episode are set to ship in Japan sometime after this July. Those who donated 50,000 yen will get an original Blu-ray disc of the new Chapter Kushiro episode with their names in the end credits, and those who donated 30,000 yen will get a Blu-ray without their names credited.
The hometown tax system lets folks in urban areas contribute to rural area taxes with a subtraction from residence and income tax, and those who donated will then get local products in return. Taxpayers who live anywhere can pay taxes to any other location of their choosing, so those who opted to pay taxes toward Kushiro City will now be rewarded with more Dropkick on My Devil! anime.
This follows a previous hometown tax project that resulted in Chapter Chitose—thanks to funds raised for Chitose City—in 2020.
Beyond this, next up for Dropkick on My Devil! is the Dropkick on My Devil!! X anime in 2022.
