Former Do As Infinity Member Arrested for Drug Possession

Daisuke “Dai” Nagao (49), a former member of the popular Japanese band Do As Infinity, was arrested last month for allegedly possessing stimulants and marijuana.

The composer and guitarist was arrested June 24 in Kobayashi, Miyazaki Prefecture. He was subsequently charged with stimulant and marijuana possession this month.

Nagao composed and produced most of Do As Infinity’s music and played guitar on-stage during the band’s early years. He also wrote songs for artists like Ayumi Hamasaki.

Do As Infinity are best known to the anime world for songs featured in Inuyasha, Fairy Tail and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. Their music has also been featured in Juni Taisen: Zodiac War, Zoids Genesis and the live-action Uzumaki film.

In Japan, drug possession can come with steep penalties, and has ended (or at least sidelined) the careers of many actors and musicians. Last year, actor and musician Pierre Taki was quickly removed from the video game Judgment after a drug charge.
