Hardcore Fate/Grand Order fans were disappointed this week to learn that the game’s latest live event will not be happening this year. The official website made the announcement that Fate/GO Fes 2020, which was planned for August 10 in Tokyo, has been canceled due to concerns surrounding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Since venues in Japan currently have to operate at 50 percent capacity or less, there was simply no way to safely hold the event, which is expected to fill Tokyo Dome to 90 percent capacity or more. Thus, with the safety of fans and guests in mind, the cancellation was decided.
That’s not the end of the party, though. Apparently the showrunners have “another form” of celebration on the way for the fifth anniversary, with more info to come. In the meantime, those who purchased tickets will be able to get their refunds through the official site.
