Jet Set Radiooooooooooo!
Ahem. Excuse this Dreamcast-loving millennial. I’m just excited to hear that Sega may be reviving two of its best franchises: Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio.
That’s the word from Bloomberg, who says the two rebooted franchises are part of Sega’s initiative to catch up with popular free-to-play games like Fortnite.
Bloomberg says that the new Crazy Taxi has been in development for a year, and will come out in the next two to three years, though “both new games are in the early stages of creation and could still be canceled.”
Don’t do that, Sega!
For the uninitiated: Crazy Taxi is a game where you speed fares from stop to stop at maximum speed, with no regard for traffic laws or human life. Meanwhile, Jet Set Radio (also known as Jet Grind Radio) features hipsters on roller skates graffiti-ing their way around Tokyo. Both games feature great soundtracks and ooze late 90s/early 00s cool.
Meanwhile, a heavily Jet Set Radio inspired game called Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is headed to PC and Switch, well, sometime.
Anyway, here’s my tl;dr take on this Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio news: yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah!
