Sad news came out of Japanese talent agency Aoni Production today, with the announcement that voice actor Saori Sugimoto has passed away at age 58. Known in Japan for her work on children’s programming, Sugimoto passed away on October 21 as a result of congestive heart failure that was caused by anorexia.

In addition to children’s programming characters like Ramurin and Nyakkii in early-learning series Shimajiro, Sugimoto had some prominent anime roles on her résumé. Chief among them was Catherine Bloom in Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, as well as roles in Crayon Shin-chan and Chibi Maruko-chan.

Sugimoto’s family members held a private funeral on October 28.
