Banana Fish Director Hiroko Utsumi Helms Original BONES AnimeNot a lot of details on this one yet, but exciting news nonetheless: director Hiroko Utsumi is teaming up with studio BONES for a new original anime series.

Utsumi is, of course, the director behind Banana Fish and Free!. Utsumi came up through the ranks at Kyoto Animation before going freelance, and has also worked on shows like K-On!, Hyouka, Lucky Star and Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions.

BONES, founded in 1998, is best known for animating series like Fullmetal Alchemist, Space Dandy and My Hero Academia.

What exactly will this new original anime be about? We’ll find out September 20, when details are set to be revealed on Shinjuku’s giant Yukina Vision screen at 6PM. Incidentally, it’ll be one of Yukina Vision’s final acts: the iconic screen is set to shutter October 4.
