Another veteran of the voice acting world has left us, with news of Masako Sugaya’s passing arriving via talent agency Arts Vision. Sugaya—who passed away during a medical treatment for an undisclosed illness—was 83 years old.
Masako Sugaya has a long and impressive list of credits to her name. Born in 1937, she voiced characters ranging from Remi in Nobody’s Boy Remi to Maki Aikawa in Osamu Dezaki’s fan-favorite anime adaptation of Sumika Yamamoto’s Aim for the Ace! tennis manga. Sugaya was also known as Kitsune in Urusei Yatsura, Kenichi in Ninja Hattori-kun, and Ganko in Perman, among many other roles.
