Hollywood’s Hello Kitty Movie Now Has Its Directors

hello kitty movieWe first got word of Hollywood’s attempt at a Hello Kitty movie in 2019, when a movie deal was struck between Sanrio and Warner Bros. Entertainment. By January of 2020 a script was in the works, and now we have our directors. According to the latest update, Jennifer Coyle and Leo Matsuda are teaming up to direct the feature, which will be a hybrid of live-action and animation.

Jennifer Coyle is a Warner Bros. Animation producer who previously directed episodes of DC Super Hero Girls. Leo Matsuda helmed the Inner Workings short that ran alongside Disney’s Moana, and also served as story artist on films like Wreck-It-Ralph, Zootopia, and Big Hero 6.

As for when we can expect Hello Kitty and her Sanrio friends to make their Hollywood red carpet debut, we’ll have to wait for more on the production and release plans.
