Silent Hill Creator Keiichiro Toyama Talks New Horror Game

Keiichiro Toyama, who directed the first Silent Hill game and both Gravity Rush games and developed the Siren game series, is coming out with a new horror video game scheduled for a 2023 release. A veteran of Sony, he’s now the CEO and Creative Director of Bokeh Game Studio, his own company.

A nine-minute video from Bokeh Game Studio has Toyoma talking deeply and thoughtfully about his entrance into video games, what he hopes to accomplish with his creations, and his opinions on the horror genre. It’s definitely worth checking out, and it includes concept art for the upcoming video game.

“The view I have of horror is the everyday life being shaken,” Toyama says in the subtitled video. “Rather than showing scary things, it should question our position, make us challenge the fact we’re living peacefully. . . I would like that to be the theme of my next game.”
