Full Speed Ahead with the Mario Train!

Japan’s state of emergency response to COVID means that the opening of Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan has been postponed (again). But a Mario-themed train that was meant to coincide with the expansion’s opening has chosen to start up its side of the deal.

The train in question can be found on the Osaka Loop and Sakurajima Lines, near Universal Studios Japan. This video gives a glimpse of not only the visuals, but also the music that plays for travelers.

“We have come to this decision [to start the themed-train now] in the hope of giving everyone something to smile about as we look forward to Super Nintendo World’s opening,” the rail operator declared.

The Mario theme will not stick with the train forever, but as of now it’s up in the air how long Mario and his universe will decorate it.
