Millions of people are eagerly waiting for the release of the Switch 2 next month, and many of them will be even more excited to learn that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is a game you can play on it!
The original Final Fantasy VII came out in 1997, and now we have a remake trilogy coming out. Final Fantasy VII Remake, the first one, dropped in 2020 for PlayStation 4. After giving the game some additional changes, it was released as Final Fantasy VII Remake Integrade for PlayStation 5. And now it will be moving on to Nintendo’s Switch 2.
The news came from Final Fantasy Remake series director Naoki Hamaguchi in a “Creator’s Voice” video put up by Nintendo of America. The video is subtitled and you can check it out here.
A Legend Reimagined – FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE – Creator’s Voice | Nintendo Switch 2
In the video, Hamaguchi says:
“With the power of the Switch 2, we can now recreate Midgar with full specs. Instead of changing every element from the original, we felt it was most important to remain faithful to a certain extent and focus on recreating things that can be done with today’s technology that couldn’t be done back then. Being able to play this game on the Switch 2 in handheld mode means you can play it on the train while commuting to work and have conversations with others about it, such as ‘I’ve made this much progress’ or ‘hey, check out this cut scene.’ This hasn’t really been possible before, so I’m very excited to see this game playable on a portable system.”
While his main talk is concentrated on Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, he says as a last thought, “I hope players are looking forward to the Final Fantasy VII remake series on Nintendo Switch 2.” By saying “series,” he’s implying that the whole trilogy will be making its way to Switch 2, despite the fact that only Intergrade has been 100% substantiated for the new gaming console.
The first two remake games are also available on PC.
