Forget the multiverse: 2025 is the year of the Galverse.
A new original anime called Shinsei Galverse has been announced for this summer. The anime is a part of the web3/NFT project (gulp) described as “indie anime, made in Tokyo, for Gals by Gals.”
Said gals include:
Director: Ayaka Ōhira (“I like u” music video)
Co-director: Yūta Takamura (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure episode director)
Scripts: Natsuko Takahashi (Tokyo Magnitude 8.0), Masahiro Okubo (Cardfight!! Vanguard overDress)
Character designs: Satoshi Ishino (Tokyo Mew Mew Mew)
The anime is being animated at studio S.o.K. The official site describes it as an OVA.
The plot of the anime revolves around girls with superpowers who battle against an evil organization called the Space End Society.
The official YouTube page says “Inspired by nostalgic 80s and 90s anime, the Galverse team aim to create something entirely new by reimagining these ideas with modern values and badass Gals at the front and centre.”
The music video for “I like u” from Tove Lo is also a part of the Galverse, uh, verse, which “acts as a standalone media experience, while also introducing a global audience to the ‘nostalgic futurism’ look and feel of the upcoming Galverse anime pilot,” according to the official site.
