The anime Dropkick on My Devil! (original title: Jashin-chan Dropkick) is holding an event called “Jashin-chan Fes” on May 4, and is currently welcoming doujinshi group applications.
There are some requirements for people who want to bring their doujin: the doujinshi must be something all ages can read, and it can’t be copied from elsewhere. And AI can’t do the work for you — it has to be drawings made by actual people. You additionally need to have at least passed middle school to be old enough to take part.
People can send their work in early, but they don’t have to. At the very least, though, you’re supposed to show a sample to whomever’s at the reception desk at the event. People are encouraged to bring in print books, magazines, illustrated cards, paper, and shikishi (which are artboards mangaka often sign). They’re interested in displaying twenty doujinshi groups.
The people behind the event are hoping around 1,000 participants will show up. As extra incentive, Jashin-chan voice actress Aina Suzuki and Yurine Hanazono voice actress Nichika Omori will be there doing stage shows. Sounds like plenty of things to keep fans entertained!
The price to attend, whether or not you have doujinshi, is 2,000 yen (approximately $15). If you’re a student, then the price drops down to 500 yen (approximately $4).
The original manga is published in English exclusively on the Mangamo app. Mangamo gave this description for the plot:
“When Yurine summoned a devil from hell, she didn’t really know what to expect. And she definitely wasn’t expecting that devil, Jashin-chan, to get stuck on earth. Now the two must live together as reluctant roommates. And if things couldn’t get any more awkward between these two, it looks like the only way Jashin-chan can return to hell is if she kills the person who brought her here . . .”
