Hype for feature film Demon Slayer: Mugen Train continues to build as we barrel full steam ahead toward its October 16 opening in Japan, and the latest update is here to announce special Demon Slayer IMAX showings. In addition to standard theatrical showings, the official website revealed plans to release the film simultaneously on select IMAX screens throughout Japan.
Besides simply being on a bigger screen, the main difference between these and normal showings of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train is the enhanced sound that comes along with the format. Certain effects have been specially formatted to work with the Demon Slayer IMAX showings, from the sounds of Tanjiro’s Water Breathing techniques to the sounds of the train itself.
Here’s an updated version of the poster with the IMAX logo:
We’ll have to wait until 2021 for the Demon Slayer: Mugen Train movie to come to the US and Canada. There’s currently no word whether or not we’ll get Demon Slayer IMAX showings when it does.
Crunchyroll streamed the TV anime as it aired and sums it up like so:
It is the Taisho Period in Japan. Tanjiro, a kindhearted boy who sells charcoal for a living, finds his family slaughtered by a demon. To make matters worse, his younger sister Nezuko, the sole survivor, has been transformed into a demon herself. Though devastated by this grim reality, Tanjiro resolves to become a “demon slayer” so that he can turn his sister back into a human, and kill the demon that massacred his family.
In the meantime, fans can also make their own characters using a special app!
