Keisuke Itagaki’s Baki manga has been doing well for itself with multiple anime adaptations, and now another series is getting the treatment. As revealed during a screening event for the Baki Hanma season 2 finale, Itagaki’s first Baki-Dou manga is next up for an anime.

Here’s a quick promo video for the announcement:

The first Baki-Dou manga is the fourth in the overall Baki series, following Baki the Grappler (42 volumes, 1991-1999), Baki (31 volumes, 1999-2005) and Hanma Baki (37 volumes, 2005-2012). Baki-Dou ran for a total of 22 volumes from 2014-2018.

After that, there’s also a second Baki-Dou manga that ran from October 2018 to June 2023.

The most recent anime adaptation to hit Netflix was the second season of Baki Hanma, which premiered around the world on July 26, 2023. Here’s how Netflix describes the series:

The story finally unfolds into a full-blooded clash between Baki Hanma and his father, Yujiro Hanma, who is known as the “strongest creature on earth.” The climax of the Baki universe, which depicted the “strongest parent-child brawl in history of the world” in the original manga, has been adapted into the long-awaited anime!
