The lineup has been updated once again for Adult Swim’s Toonami block, so fans will soon get to check out more recent additions. The latest has the fifth season of the Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma anime joining the lineup, with the first episode of the season locked in for Saturday, March 18 at 1:00am Eastern Time (AKA the wee hours of March 19).
March 18 lineup:
- 12:00AM – My Hero Academia Season 6
- 12:30AM – My Hero Academia Season 6
- 1:00AM – Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: The Fifth Plate
- 1:30AM – One Piece
- 2:00AM – Naruto Shippūden
- 2:30AM – Primal
After episodes were delayed by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in April 2020, Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: The Fifth Plate eventually started its broadcast over from the beginning in July 2020.
The Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma anime is based on the manga written by Yuto Tsukuda and illustrated by Shun Saeki, with cooperation credit going to chef Yuki Morisaki. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired and describes the series like so:
Shokugeki no Soma centers on Yukihira Soma, a middle school student who is determined to surpass his father’s culinary skills. One day, his father decides to close down their family restaurant and hone his skills in Europe. Before leaving he enrolls Soma in an elite culinary school that is extremely difficult to enter with a graduation rate of only 10 percent. Will Soma be able to improve his skills, or will the kitchen prove to be too hot?
