The next anime film project from Studio 4ºC (Tekkonkinkreet) is Gyoko no Nikuko-chan (Nikuko of the Fishing Harbor), which adapts the novel of the same name by Kanako Nishi. The movie is now set to open in Japan in early summer of this year, and the latest cast addition has Natsuki Hanae (Tanjiro in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) joining the cast to voice a young boy.
The story of Gyoko no Nikuko-chan is about a mother and daughter who live on a boat, and follows them as they grow and set out on their paths through life. Ayumu Watanabe (Children of the Sea) is directing the adaptation, with Satomi Ooshima on the script and Kenichi Konishi handling character designs and chief animation direction.
