In 2018, Yoshikazu Yasuhiko announced plans to retire after Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin, but it seems there’s been a change in plans. Instead, Yasuhiko just announced that he’s working on a new anime film.
He shared this detail during a recent interview with Sunrise World and managed not to say too much. What we do know is that the project seems to be moving smoothly, and that we should probably expect an official announcement soon.
Yasuhiko has been working in the otaku world since 1970, when he was an animator at Tezuka’s Mushi Production. He’s best known for his work in the Gundam franchise, and the Japan Academy Film Prize Association gave him the Association’s Special Award for lifetime achievement.
