In Honor of TONIKAWA, Here Are More Heart-Melting Anime Marriages

TONIKAWA is coming back, baby!

A while back, we recognized some of our favorite anime marriages. Naturally, Nasa and Tsukasa Yuzaki of TONIKAWA: Over the Moon for You was in that list. With plans for a second season confirmed, we figure it’s as good a time as any to add to that list.

Some met on the battlefield; others at a bar. Some have differing jobs; others come from shockingly different walks of life. Regardless, they’re some of our favorite people ever. So here they are, in no particular order, because they are all equal best.

Gou and Anna Saruwatari

Godannar

Our last list, in addition to TONIKAWA, included the Amamis from GaoGaiGar. That down-to-earth couple ended up raising a young alien hero. You can tell at a glance that GaoGaiGar and mecha anime Godannar share some DNA: primarily that character design. But Gou and Anna, the married leads of this series, are in the thick of it.

In fact, everything kicks off during their wedding. Gou was attempting to retire and settle down into married life. Instead, he and Anna became a giant robot power couple. Which is awkward when the in-laws run the base… but not the awkwardest thing they encounter.

Chisato and Sora Mizusawa

Love Is Like a Cocktail

Compared to the young couple of TONIKAWA, the stars of Love Is Like a Cocktail seem like the most standard adults ever. Chisato is a tough-as-nails office lady, and Sora is her bartender boyfriend. And sometimes she wants a drink after work. But only at home. Because Chisato gets very cuddly after a drink, and that’s only Sora’s business.

Sora also knows how to make exactly what Chisato needs, including soothing drinks on sick days and the occasional non-alcoholic mix. The best part? We get the recipes, too! Something tells us we’ll never be on his level, but it’s nice to have a place to start.

Tatsu and Miku

The Way of the House Husband

The Internet’s current S-tier anime husband is a yakuza. Which is not at all surprising, actually, that’s exactly the kind of thing we’d do. But Tatsu comes by it honestly.

The weirdly adorable Way of the Househusband sees “Immortal Dragon” Tatsu switching his focus to what really matters: his lovely wife Miku. Just as he fought to be the best before, he now fights to be the best at bento. And cleaning. And protecting Miku’s smile. And the feeling is mutual. Miku has supported him more than once — literally and figuratively.

Keep an eye out for more news on TONIKAWA season 2!
