Tate no Yusha no Oshinagaki—AKA The Menu of the Shield Hero—is a gourmet spinoff manga based on The Rising of the Shield Hero light novel series by Aneko Yusagi. The series first kicked off on Kadokawa’s Comic Walker website in August 2019, and now it officially has its ending plans set.
As announced on manga artist Amamichi Akano’s official Twitter account, the series will come to an end in its seventh volume. This comes hot on the heels of the sixth collected volume, which hit shelves in Japan this week. True to its name, The Menu of the Shield Hero is all about the characters from the series in cooking scenarios.
One Peace Books publishes the original The Rising of the Shield Hero light novels and the manga adaptation, the latter of which is by Aiya Kyu, and describes the first volume of the novels as such:
Naofumi Iwatani, an uncharismatic otaku who spends his days on games and manga, suddenly finds himself summoned to a parallel universe! He discovers he is one of four heroes equipped with legendary weapons and tasked with saving the world from its prophesied destruction. As the Shield Hero, the weakest of the heroes, all is not as it seems. Naofumi is soon alone, penniless, and betrayed. With no one to turn to, and nowhere to run, he is left with only his shield. Now, Naofumi must rise to become the legendary Shield Hero and save the world!
