The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 4 Teased with New Visual

Season four of The Rising of the Shield Hero will be here before too long. In the meantime, a new teaser visual has dropped that highlights Naofumi, Raphtalia, Filo, Atla and Fohl. There’s also a short video of the visual!

But this really is a tease, as details like the release date of the new season still have yet to be revealed. It is known, however, that Crunchyroll will stream it in America once it’s out.

The Rising of the Shield Hero author Aneko Yusagi and manga adapter Aiya Kyu spoke to Otaku USA previously about their work. At the time Yusagi said, “I really have fun when I finally reveal scenes that I’ve been stealthily foreshadowing. It’s fun to see how stealthily I can foreshadow things without anyone realizing what’s going to happen.”

And speaking about what she enjoyed drawing, Kyu told Otaku USA, “I got deeply into depicting the bond between Naofumi and Raphtalia, so I really like drawing them. Also, I really liked Glass and how she was a formidable enemy at first, and I had fun drawing the heroic Kizuna.”

One Peace books publishes the original light novels, as well as The Reprise of the Spear Hero light novels and manga adaptations of both series. And there are audiobooks. It gave this description for the first Rising of the Shield Hero light novel:

The Rising of the Shield Hero Plot

Naofumi Iwatani, an uncharismatic otaku who spends his days on games and manga, suddenly finds himself summoned to a parallel universe! He discovers he is one of four heroes equipped with legendary weapons and tasked with saving the world from its prophesied destruction. As the Shield Hero, the weakest of the heroes, all is not as it seems. Naofumi is soon alone, penniless, and betrayed. With no one to turn to, and nowhere to run, he is left with only his shield. Now, Naofumi must rise to become the legendary Shield Hero and save the world!
