One Piece Inspires New Holographic Anime

Adding to the ever-growing list of One Piece collaborations is a new One Piece VR Theater production, which hooks Eiichiro Oda’s series up with DMM VR Theater for a new holographic anime. The new project is lined up for 2017, and to celebrate the theater will be screening an enhanced version of a 2014 hologram screening, Straw Hats vs. Seven Warlords of the Sea Holographic Battle Theater Encore in Yokohama.

That mouthful of a title will be running in the theater from November 12 to December 11.

The DMM VR Theater employs holographic technology for events like virtual concerts. If you’ve ever seen Vocaloid idols like Hatsune Miku on stage, then you’ve seen the type of screens they use for their performances.
