The One Piece Lego sets have officially launched! This is something great for fans around the world, but probably no one is geeking out more than One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda. Netflix, home of the successful live-action One Piece adaptation, offered a video of Oda getting to see the finished sets for the first time.
One by one he’s presented with the Windmill Village Hut set, the Buggy the Clown’s Circus Tent set, the Battle at Arlong Park set, The Going Merry Pirate Ship set, and The Baratie Floating Restaurant set.
“Wow, this is too much fun,” Oda begins. Moments later he exclaims, “Kawaii!”
And it turns out he’s a longtime Lego fan. “I truly love Lego sets, always have,” he remarks. “Yes, I’ve bought a lot for my retirement, still in their boxes.”
He admires the wanted posters, and multiple times he says “Sugoi!” which could be translated as “amazing!” or “awesome!”
“The craftsmanship is incredible,” Oda exclaims. “This is so accurate.”
Oda describes the scenes as “perfectly recreated.”
“I could play with this forever,” he gushes. “This is the best. The kid in me is so excited about this. My dream has been fulfilled, truly. I want to display it in my room.”
