Buichi Terasawa’s Space Adventure Cobra manga is coming to the screen again, this time in a production from French animation studio Mangouste Anim. The company announced its acquisition of the rights to produce a series during this week’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France.

Details are light at the moment, including release timing and other key pieces of information. According to Animation Business Journal, Mangouste Anim says that “Cobra will return to our screens,” but we’ll have to wait on official confirmation for its final destination. It’s currently listed as an animated series.

For now, the studio shared a teaser visual for the project:

Based on the 1978-1984 manga by the late Buichi Terasawa, the first Space Adventure Cobra anime aired in Japan from 1982 to 1983. The series also inspired an anime film in 1982, as well as OVAs, a 2010 anime and an upcoming video game called Space Adventure Cobra: The Awakening.
