We’ve been hearing for a while now that Gundam 00 would be getting a sequel of some kind. Now we’ve learned about a new series called Revealed Chronicle, which will be animated in CG and reunite the staff of the original series, including director Seiji Mizushima.
According to Mizushima, Revealed Chronicle is not a “full anime” but will “fill in gaps between the first and second seasons” of the original Gundam 00. It’ll also feature new mobile suits for several characters.
You can get a preview of Revealed Chronicle by checking out the video below, starting at an hour and 15 minutes in.
We heard from Mizushima back in 2020 that he was working on a Gundam 00 sequel that wouldn’t come out until 2027, so I’m assuming that this isn’t that, but rather a way to whet our collective Gundam-loving appetites until then.
Speaking of the original Gundam 00, here’s the official description:
The year is 2307 A.D. While the Earth’s reserves of fossil fuels have been depleted, humanity has obtained a new, nearly infinite source of energy to replace them in the form of large-scale solar-powered generation systems based on three huge orbital elevators. However, the benefits of this system are available only to a handful of major powers and their allies.
These orbital elevators belong to three superpower blocs: the Union, the Human Reform League and the AEU. These confederations continue to play a grand zero-sum game for the sake of their own prestige and prosperity. Thus, even in the 24th Century, humanity has yet to unite as one.
