Masami Obari Creates Fatal Fury Music Video with Salvatore Ganacci

Masami Obari Creates Fatal Fury Music Video with Salvatore GanacciNext week sees the releases of the fighting game Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, the latest entry in the long-running Fatal Fury franchise.

To help promote the game, legendary animator Masami Obari (who directed 1994’s Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture) has created a new Fatal Fury music video set to the tunes of DJ Salvatore Ganacci.

Specifically, the song is “Terry Andy Joe,” a remix of classic Fatal Fury music by Ganacci.

Aside from directing the video, Obari also served as creative producer, storyboarder and key animation director.

City of the Wolves hits Windows, Xbox and PlayStation platforms April 24. Here’s how SNK describes it:

A fighting game boom swept the arcade world in the 1990s—and one franchise that led the charge was Fatal Fury.
The “father of SNK fighting games” burst onto the scene with the first FATAL FURY in 1991 (the dawning of a new era, some would say)—a landmark title that follows brothers Terry and Andy Bogard, along with Japanese Muay Thai champion Joe Higashi, on their quest for revenge against nefarious South Town kingpin Geese Howard. FATAL FURY 2 followed a year later, introducing the series’ first female fighter—Mai Shiranui—and focusing on two-player competition. Another year on saw FATAL FURY SPECIAL, an all-star brawl with combatants from the two previous titles, make waves in its own right.
Fatal Fury’s legacy cannot be denied, having taken arcades by storm and pumping out a slew of new titles in the years since. The series has truly cemented its place in the annals of fighting game history.
