Lupin III’s Jigen Daisuke Lands Live-Action Film

Lupin III’s Jigen Daisuke Lands Live-Action FilmI certainly never expected 2014’s live-action Lupin III adaptation to get a sequel (sidequel?), but here we go. A new film called Jigen Daisuke is set to hit Amazon Prime on October 13, and it stars Tetsuji Tamayama, who played Jigen in the 2014 film.

Jigen Daisuke is being produced by Amazon Studios and TMS Entertainment.

Tamayama cited the anime Jigen Daisuke’s Gravestone as an inspiration for this new film, citing its edgy, adult atmosphere.

In the movie, Jigen returns to Japan to get his trusty magnum looked at by the world’s greatest gunsmith/watch shop owner.

The film is directed by Hajime Hashimoto (The Detective Is in the Bar) and written by Yoshimasa Akamatsu (Corpse Party: Book of Shadows).

I wasn’t particularly enamored with the 2014 Lupin III film, but looking forward to how this one turns out, especially with Jigen Daisuke’s Gravestone as a touchstone.
