The rap battle multimedia project Hypnosis Mic was getting ready to debut its TV anime in Japan this July, but the showdown will have to wait. The anime’s production committee announced that the Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle- Rhyme Anima anime has officially been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the series now aiming for an October debut.

Hypnosis Mic centers on rival gangs who wage turf warfare through rap battles, and takes place in a futuristic Japan in which weapons are outlawed. Naturally, when you can’t grab a weapon, you grab a mic, but the microphones in this series are unlike any other. The Hypnosis Mic allows the user to affect people’s psyches with their words, and the series follows a variety of gangs—including MAD TRIGGER CREW, Fling Posse, Matenrou, and Buster Bros!!!—with former members of the legendary The Dirty Dawg group at the forefront of each.

The series’ official guide book has also been delayed, moving its release from June 25 to September 2.
