Hideaki Anno Shares English Statement on Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Delay

evangelion: 3.0+1.0

While we may not have been shocked by the recent delay of Evangelion: 3.0+1.0, we were definitely disappointed. The anticipated finale was set to open in Japanese theaters on June 27, but had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In response to the announcement, director Hideaki Anno shared a statement which has since been translated into English.

Anno’s anime studio Khara posted the translation on Twitter. Here’s what Anno had to say about the delay:

A MESSAGE FROM HIDEAKI ANNO
by his handwriting in the original Japanese version

To all who suffered from the recent Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19),
Please let me express my deepest sympathy.

Also to all the medical staff and related persons who are still working on this case,
I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude and respect.

I feel so sorry to keep you waiting more for our new film due to the unprecedented situation, even though I know well you have already waited for almost 8 years.

I will keep my best with my indomitable spirits together with all of you, even while we are seeing the toughest situation all over the world.

Thank you very much for your continuous support.

Now all there is to do is wait and see when Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 has a new date!
