GKIDS revealed it has licensed Shin Godzilla, which was written and co-directed by Hideaki Anno of the Evengelion franchise and co-director Shinji Higuchi of Shin Ultraman, who also took care of the visual affects. GKIDS will offer the movie in a Deluxe Collector’s Edition, limited edition 4K UHD SteelBook and Standard editions, Standard Blu-ray edition, as well as a Digital Download-to-Own. The physical versions are available to preorder now.
On October 28, the 4K UHD Steelbook & Standard editions, and the Standard Blu-Ray Edition will be available to the public. YouTube Movies, Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, and Google Play are some of the platforms where you can get a digital download, and that starts a little later, on November 11.
Each edition offers something. For instance, the Deluxe Collector’s Edition also has the movie’s SHIN GODZILLA:ORTHOchromatic version, is reminiscent of the Japanese Special Edition, and additionally has a booklet translated into English that tells all about how the movie was made. The Deluxe Edition needs to be bought from the Godzilla store.
If you get any of the physical editions, you’ll also get more than three hours of bonus features on the “White” disc.

Shin Godzilla Plot
Something has surfaced in Tokyo Bay. As the Prime Minister of Japan pleads with the public to remain calm, a horrific creature of tremendous size makes landfall in the city, leaving death and destruction in its wake. Then it evolves. The government assembles a motley task force to combat the monster when an envoy from the US Department of State delivers a folder of classified documents. On its cover is written “GODZILLA.”
