Hello Kitty Celebrates National Ice Cream Day with Special Flavor

Hello Kitty celebrates National Ice Cream Day with an exclusive flavor!

2024 is a big year for Hello Kitty, the iconic Sanrio mascot. Created in 1974, she’s gone on to dominate kawaii culture with her own anime, games, live shows, and merchandise. (So much merchandise.) With this year marking her 50th anniversary, she’s out there even more than ever. And she’s helping us celebrate National Ice Cream Day!

The Sanrio star is teaming up with Van Leeuwen Ice Cream to bring an exclusive new flavor to fans across the U.S. But it’s only available for one day: today!

Party Time

Hello Kitty 50th anniversary

Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary celebrations are already well underway, with a special website set up to track the many activities taking place this year. Online venues ZEPETO and Roblox will be offering exclusive in-game items including avatars, actions, and more. If you plan to travel, you can also grab a special AR app from the anniversary site. Point your phone at iconic monuments to see the birthday girl dancing!

TikTok is even getting in on the action with clips to remix, effects for your own videos, and more. And other events will be rolling out throughout the year… including today’s sweet treat!

A Birthday Treat

Van Leeuwen's exclusive Hello Kitty flavor

Today only, Hello Kitty fans can enjoy her very own flavor: Yummy Berry White Chocolate Truffle. The flavor is described as “white chocolate ice cream with swirls of sweet red raspberry jam (a nod to Hello Kitty’s famous red bow) and chunks of truffle brownies.” The exclusive flavor comes in a special pink pint adorned with the birthday girl herself.

What makes the flavor even better? Van Leeuwen will be donating 50% of profits from the flavor to Kindness.org. This charity uses scientific research and collaboration to promote acts of kindness all around the world.
