The final episode of the second season of the Fruits Basket anime just aired, and with it came the announcement of plans for the Fruits Basket final season. The adaptation of Natsuki Takaya’s manga will finally run its course when the third and—if they hold true to the description—final season debuts in 2021.

The second season—which had Yoshihide Ibata (FLCL Progressive) directing and Taku Kishimoto (Silver Spoon) writing—streamed via Funimation as it aired. Here’s how they describe the story:
Tohru Honda thought her life was headed for misfortune when a family tragedy left her living in a tent. When her small home is discovered by the mysterious Soma clan, she suddenly finds herself living with Yuki, Kyo, and Shigure Soma. But she quickly learns their family has a bizarre secret of their own: when hugged by the opposite sex, they turn into the animals of the Zodiac!
