Otaku USA Magazine
Feature Watch: Attack on Titan Anime

Attack on Titan is one of the biggest anime out there right now, and we’re right on top of it in the latest issue of Otaku USA magazine! Our One Piece Strong World cover nearly caved from the ramming speed of a colossal titan, but it stayed strong. Nevertheless, Attack on Titan is a deservedly hot topic, and Daryl Surat’s feature touches on what separates it from the pack and makes it one of the coolest series to come along in quite some time.

While the anime has its roots in traditional shonen storytelling, Hajime Isayama’s manga—published in North America by Kodansha—still manages to paint a horrifying picture that does a decent job of subverting some of the expected gung-ho enthusiasm. As Daryl points out in the article, our protagonist Eren quickly finds that such brazen action often just puts himself and those around him in greater peril. Titans aren’t your typical enemy—lumbering, nude giants with eerily cheerful expressions who only seem to live for devouring humans whole—so taking them on isn’t a simple, or predictable, task.

Whether you’re already knee deep in the series or just wondering what in the world everyone keeps talking about, be sure to dig into the full feature in our new issue. And don’t forget to peep our bonus article that rounds up some of the most ridiculous and entertaining Attack on Titan tributes!
