The Silent Hill horror game franchise got its start in 1999 and is still going strong. A Silent Hill Transmission video was placed online to inform people on what’s down the road, and several trailers for forthcoming projects have been released.
If you want to see the whole Silent Hill Transmission video, it’s just under fifty minutes long.
To start, Silent Hill 2 is receiving a remake. When it comes out, you’ll be able to play it on PC or PlayStation 5, and PS5 will have a console exclusive on it for a year. Akira Yamaoka is back to compose, and Masahiro Ito, who has previously designed monsters for Silent Hill, is working on this project as the concept artist.
There’s also going to be a brand-new game called Silent Hill: Townfall. It’s being produced by Annapurna Interactive and No Code, and there’s a short teaser trailer for it.
Their next new game is going to be Silent Hill: Ascension. This will launch next year, and is described as a live interactive streaming experience that you can get online. A number of companies are teamed up on this one: Genvid, Behaviour Interactive, Bad Robot Games, and dj2 Entertainment. There’s also a teaser trailer for this.
The last upcoming game they’re talking about is Silent Hill f. The story will take place in 1960s Japan, and is being written by Ryukishi07, who already scared people the world over with Higurashi. The game is being developed by Neobards Entertainment, and produced by Motoi Okamoto. Credit for creature and character design goes to kera.
There is also going to be another live-action Silent Hill movie. Director Christophe Gans said that it “will still be set in that ‘small American town’ atmosphere, where puritanism devastated everything.”
Here’s a longer video with interviews.
