Johnny Yong Bosch plays Dante in the English dub. The show is being made at Studio Mir. The scripts for the first season, which will contain eight episodes, were finished back in 2021. Alex Larsen of Netflix’s Yasuke is a cowriter for the project.
It was in 2018 that there was the first reveal that Devil May Cry would be getting another series. We’re also told that the show is getting seasons, plural, as opposed to one season to start with and see how it goes. Dante, Vergil, and Lady will all be characters in it.
Back in late 2023 Netflix offered some behind-the-scenes looks at the series, which you can check out here.
The official video game site gave this description for the game:
Devil May Cry Plot
Meet Dante: a half-human, half-demon, hunter for hire and carefree owner of the Devil May Cry agency. A mysterious woman named Trish approaches him one day with news of the king of the underworld making a grand return from banishment to wreak havoc on the world. Brandishing his father’s sword Force Edge and trusty guns Ebony & Ivory, he sets out to defeat the demon king, the one responsible for the death of his family…
Along with this and the previous anime adaptation, Devil May Cry has additionally received manga and novels in the franchise, as well as a stage play.
The original Devil May Cry anime was licensed by ADV Films. Funimation took on the title and released it on home video, and it’s being streamed by Crunchyroll.
