The newest entry into the massive Detective Conan franchise is the TV anime Detective Conan: Hannin no Hanzawa-san (translated as Detective Conan: The Culprit Hanzawa). The anime will make its debut in Japan on October 3, and a day later it will launch globally on Netflix. Ahead of this, the opening animation sequence (minus the credits) has been released. In it you can hear the opening theme song “Tsukamaete, Konya.” (translated as “Arrest Me Tonight.”) being performed by Leon Niihama.

The ending theme song will be called “Secret, voice of my heart.” and performed by Mai Kuraki.

This series is based on the manga by Mayuko Kanba and is a funny spinoff of the original Detective Conan (a.k.a. Case Closed) series. The protagonist here is Hanzawa-san. In the Detective Conan series, unknown criminals are portrayed in a black silhouette, so the idea here is that this image is of an actual character.

Here is what we know about the cast: Shota Aoi plays Hanzawa-san, Inori Minase plays Pometaro, Megumi Hayashibara plays Ai Haibara, Rikiya Koyama plays Kogoro Mori, Akira Ishida plays Saguru Hakuba, Naoko Matsui plays Sonoko Suzuki, Kenichi Ogata plays Professor Agasa, Wataru Takagi plays Genta Kojima, Ikue Otani plays Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya, Yukiko Iwai plays Ayumi Yoshida, Chafurin plays Juzo Megure, Kenyuu Horiuchi plays Harufumi Mogi, Emi Shinohara plays Ikumi Soda, and Minoru Inaba plays Shukujiro Ogami.

The Detective Conan: Hannin no Hanzawa-san manga got its start in spring of 2017, being published by Shonen Sunday S. The sixth book volume was published about a year ago in Japan.

Another Detective Conan spinoff, Detective Conan: Zero no Tea Time (translated as Detective Conan: Zero’s Tea Time) has additionally received an anime adaptation this year. This anime series will become available on Netflix next July.
