Detective Conan TV Series Teases 30th Anniversary Project

Detective Conan TV Series Teases 30th Anniversary ProjectThe TV version of Gosho Aoyama’s manga Detective Conan (aka Case Closed) first went on air on January 8, 1996. That means next year will mark 30 years on air, and today we learned there’s a 30th-anniversary project in the works.

There aren’t a lot of details yet, but we’ve got a piece of key art that reads “TV —> Movie.” Does that mean we’ll be getting a new Conan movie in addition to the annual features, perhaps one made for TV? We’ll let you know whenever more details are revealed.

Meanwhile, the latest of those annual Conan films, One-Eyed Flashback, is set to hit a giant number of screens throughout Japan on April 18. Last year’s Million-Dollar Pentagram was both the highest-grossing Conan film ever and the #1 film at the Japanese box office for 2024.

Just in case you need it, here’s the official description of the first volume of Case Closed:

Jimmy Kudo, the son of a world-renowned mystery writer, is a high school detective who has cracked the most baffling of cases. One day while on a date with his childhood friend Rachel Moore, Jimmy observes a pair of men in black involved in some shady business. The men capture Jimmy and give him a poisonous substance to rub out their witness. But instead of killing him, it turns him into a little kid! Jimmy takes on the pseudonym Conan Edogawa and continues to solve all the difficult cases that come his way. All the while, he’s looking for the men in black and the mysterious organization they’re with in order to find a cure for his miniature malady.
