Known for popular romantic comedy manga Teasing Master Takagi-san, which has already had an anime adaptation, author Soichiro Yamamoto has another one of his series coming to the small screen. Next up is his hit series Soredemo Ayumu wa Yosetekuru (Even So, Ayumu Approaches), which is also a rom-com and has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine since March of 2019.
The announcement came from Yamamoto’s own Twitter account, and you can see the full accompanying illustration below.
Here’s what the author said about it:
“I’m very happy that ‘Soredemo Ayumu wa Yosetekuru,’ which was the first manga that I drew with a ‘story’ in mind in a weekly magazine, will be adapted into an anime. Not only as an author, but also as a viewer, I’m really looking forward to seeing it in action with voices. I’ll be working even harder than before on the original manga, so please give me your support.”
There’s also a new commercial for the manga, featuring Yoshimasa Hosoya as Ayumu Tanaka and Konomi Kohara as Urushi Yaotome. The clip reveals a 2022 release window for the series, which follows two members of the high school Shogi club. Ayumu is a beginner at the game, and wants to win against the club president, Urushi, and confess his love.
