In addition to the live-action Teasing Master Takagi-san film that’s on the way this May, a live-action series is launching even sooner. TBS announced plans to premiere the adaptation of Soichiro Yamamoto’s manga—known in Japan as Karakai Jozu no Takagi-san—on March 26, 2024.

The main cast includes Rui Tsukishima as Takagi and Soya Kurokawa as Nishikata. In Japan, episodes will be available to stream on Netflix every Tuesday and will also air as part of TBS’s Drama Stream programming block on Tuesdays. Beyond the Japanese premiere, Netflix has international release plans for the series.

The main difference between the live-action series and film is the time period. The TV drama follows the story of the leads during junior high school, and the film will pick up 10 years after the events of the manga.

Yen Press publishes the Teasing Master Takagi-san manga in English. Here’s the official synopsis:

Middle schooler Nishikata has had it with his classmate who sits nearby, Takagi. Day in and day out, she comes after him with every sort of trick or prank. Even when he tries to tease her back, she’s always one step ahead but he’s not about to give up that easily in this battle of cunning and youth!
