Anime Armor That’s the Height of Fashion (and Protection)

Here's just some of the anime armor catching our eye

Our favorite action heroes are always looking cool, no matter the gear. But when it comes to hard-hitting fashion, nothing has quite the same flair and presence as anime armor. Whether it’s heavy-duty full body or, er, a little draftier, it’s always epic.

Here are a few of our favorite suits of anime armor, from the elegant to the epic.

Erza Scarlet’s Heaven’s Wheel Armor

Erza Scarlet's Heaven's Wheel Armor

Erza Scarlet of Fairy Tail is a walking repository of cool anime armor. She’s got a suit for every occasion, each with its own awesome powers. It’s hard to choose — but for our money, the Heaven’s Wheel armor is extra cool.

For starters, Heaven’s Wheel allows the wearer to fly — big points already. Secondly, it lets Erza Requip a bunch of swords and then throw them at her opponents. How many is “a bunch”? In this case, at least 200. And, of course, it just looks awesome. Imagine this avenging angel coming at you in battle… or don’t. It’s much better to imagine her being on our side.

Alice’s Integrity Knight Armor

Sword Art Online is full of cool gear, but we’ve got our eyes on Alice’s Integrity Knight armor in Sword Art Online: Alicization. As Alice Synthesis Thirty she sports this shining gold and blue ensemble. It may be indicative of some bad stuff that goes down in the series, but we can’t help but appreciate this anime armor it even so.

Of course, there’s the elephant in the room… this looks a bit like a certain other armored anime lady. But the sparkling gold adds a little extra something that makes Alice look arguably more regal than the King of Knights. Just… don’t tell Altria we said that, all right?

Alphonse Elric

Alphonse Elric. That's it.

Why wear it when you can be it? We’ve saved our favorite anime armor for last: good boy Alphonse Elric, the walking automail. The main advantage the Fullmetal Alchemist hero gets from his armor is… well, existing. But being a soul bound to a suit of armor also means he’s pretty tough, and can serve as a hiding place in a pinch. The existential crisis that comes of being the soul of a child bound to an automail suit kind of evens that out, though.

Which anime armor do you think is the coolest out there?
