There is unfortunate news that Daisuke Ashihara, creator of the popular World Trigger manga, is once again dealing with some health issues. The exact nature of the health issues were not revealed, but it means that Ashihara is taking some time off to feel better. As a result, there will be no new chapter in the March issue of Jump SQ. magazine, which is published in early February. The manga is supposed to return in March, with the magazine’s April issue.
This comes on the heels of Ashihara having a previous hiatus in January. That time, though, it was about the creator having time to work on the series’ next compiled volume, and it was not due to health reasons.
That said, the series has gone on hiatus multiple times with Ashihara’s health listed as the reason. Mangaka are known for often working absurd hours, and there are concerns about how this can affect their health.
We hope Ashihara is feeling better soon and it’s not a serious illness!
VIZ Media publishes World Trigger in America and gave this description for it:
World Trigger Plot
Earth is under constant threat from Neighbors, invincible monsters from another dimension that destroy our way of life. At least we have the elite warriors of Border, who co-opt alien technology to fight back!
Our hero Osamu Mikumo may not be the best agent, but he’ll do whatever it takes to defend life on Earth as we know it.
When Osamu meets a feisty humanoid Neighbor named Yuma, everything that he thinks is right is turned on its head. Can the two natural enemies ever become friends?
The World Trigger manga has been running for more than a decade, having premiered in 2013. It also has an anime adaptation that’s available to watch in America through Crunchyroll.
