Before Gosho Aoyama kicked off the serialization of the Detective Conan manga in 1994, his Yaiba manga ran in the pages of Weekly Shonen Sunday from September 1988 to December 1993. The series was collected in 24 volumes and adapted into a 52-episode anime titled Kenyu Densetsu YAIBA from 1993 to 1994, and now it’s set to return with a brand new anime.
Aoyama will supervise the new anime, which now has an official website and X (formerly Twitter) account. You can see a teaser trailer and visual, featuring Aoyama’s art, below.
Here’s how the official website describes the story:
The protagonist, Yaiba (Kurogane Yaiba), is a wild samurai boy who trains in the jungle with his father, Kenjuro! By chance, Yaiba returns to Japan, where he meets his rival Takeshi Onimaru, who has the same samurai spirit as Yaiba, in a new training ground.
Yaiba is living a life of serious competition, but when Onimaru obtains the “Legendary Demon Sword”, he is on a journey full of spectacle and great adventure…!
