Persona Games Designer Shares Special Image for VA Billy Kametz

After it was announced that voice over actor Billy Kametz has been diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer, he received an outpouring of support from fans. Now Shigenori Soejima, the original character designer for the Persona game series, is showing how much he cares by sharing a special message and a special drawing, along with a link to Kametz’ GoFundMe page.

The special drawing is of Takuto Maruki, the character Kametz played in Persona 5 Royal. You can also hear Kametz’s voice talents as Naofumi in The Rising of The Shield Hero, White Blood Cell in Cells at Work!, and Josuke in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable, among other shows.

As of this writing, Kametz’s GoFundMe page has raised $155,916, and donations are still appreciated. On May 17, A Jinnie McManus, the organizer of the GoFundMe page, wrote this update:

“Thank you so so so much. To be able to surround my friend Billy with such love has been a gift. And please know that every donation, from the thousands at a time (!) to the heartfelt smaller amounts, low or high, made a real difference and has been so appreciated. I’ve heard from fans of all ages, some of whom even ran their own donation drives toss in here. It has been wonderful to hear from all of you.

Also, special thanks to those who couldn’t donate but still helped raised the word and get this GFM out there for folks to see.

I know you really want to hear from Billy, of course, and you will soon. But since we hit our second and final goal, I had to share my gratitude as well.

And lastly: If you’re seeing this and you haven’t donated yet, it’s not too late to do so! I am leaving this GFM open indefinitely because Billy’s treatment is still ongoing.

Thanks again!
-Jinnie”
