The Fruits Basket -prelude- compilation movie will come out on Blu-ray this June 24 in Japan, and purchasers will get a little something extra: a brand-new manga from creator Natsuki Takaya.
The manga will be short — only eight pages — and Takaya created it specifically to go with the Blu-ray release. This sample page was unveiled:
The movie had its debut in Japanese theaters on February 18. In its first eighteen days out, it raked in 130 million yen (approximately $1.12 million). People lucky enough to see it in theaters during a brief window of time also received their own special new manga from Takaya. That exclusive manga was twice the length of this one, coming in at sixteen pages.
While it’s a compilation film, it also has new parts, including stuff on Tohru’s parents Kyoko and Katsuya.
The movie’s theme song is called “Niji to Kaito” (translated as “Rainbow and Kite”) and is performed by Ōhashi Trio.
The original manga is published in America by Yen Press. Yen Press gave this description of their volumes:

Crunchyroll gave this description of the 2019-2021 anime adaptation:
