If you were wondering who that new character is in ONE PIECE FILM RED, well, we have a surprising answer thanks to the first trailer. Uta has been revealed as a singer who is none other than the daughter of Shanks—or at least that’s what they’re establishing in the teaser—and you can read the full English synopsis and check out the first preview below.
Here’s the official description:
Uta — the most beloved singer in the world. Her voice, which she sings with while concealing her true identity, has been described as “otherworldly.” She will appear in public for the first time at a live concert. As the venue fills with all kinds of Uta fans — excited pirates, the Navy watching closely, and the Straw Hats led by Luffy who simply came to enjoy her sonorous performance — the voice that the whole world has been waiting for is about to resound. The story begins with the shocking fact that she is “Shanks’ daughter.”

Staff for the film includes creator Eiichiro Oda as author and general producer, as well as Code Geass director Goro Taniguchi at the helm. Tsutomu Kuroiwa is on the screenplay, with Masayuki Sato handling character design and general animation direction, Hiroshi Kato as art director and concept artist, Sayoko Kawasaki as color designer, Kentaro Kawasaki as CG director, Tsunetaka Ema as director of photography and Tomoya Yoshida as production manager.
