Toei Animation’s official website was recently the victim of a hacking incident, and while the severity of the situation has yet to be determined, the company has decided to shut down the Toei Animation Online Shop temporarily as a precautionary measure.
The hack was discovered on March 6, and Toei Animation—known for producing major anime ranging from Dragon Ball and One Piece to Sailor Moon, Digimon and beyond—is currently looking into whether or not anything sensitive was accessed. Toei Animation also limited access to internal systems and has closed those down for the time being while they investigate the status of personal details, internal documentation and other key pieces of information.
Hopefully everything remains safe and protected over there, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry with such sensitive information.
