Demon Slayer Makes More Money Than #1 Movie in Japan

You can’t keep Demon Slayer down for long! The mega blockbuster technically came in second place in the Japanese box office this past weekend, but it made more money over the weekend than the movie in first place.

This weekend Demon Slayer sold approximately 97,000 tickets to moviegoers in Japan, raking in 162,614,700 yen (about $1,496,730). The number one movie, which sold more tickets, did not actually make as much. In fact, Demon Slayer sales went up 4.5 percent this weekend, even though it’s been in theaters for 21 weeks.
